Textbook as a basis for the implementation of the regional component in school geography education: actualization of educational content

The subject of the study is the implementation of the regional component in school geographical education, and the aim is to disclose the main provisions that can be used in the actualization of its filling with thematic content in the format of the textbook. Analytical and synthetic methods are used for this purpose. The result is the textbook "Geography of the Jewish Autonomous Region. Grade 8–9", which can be used to study the regional part of the course "Geography of Russia" in general education institutions of the region. The textbook maintains
continuity with the scientific and methodological developments on the geography of the region made in different years. However, the material presented in it is significantly updated in accordance with the changes that occurred in the State and the Jewish Autonomous Region during the
period under review, and with the requirements of normative and methodological documents regulating the content of modern school geographic education. The material of the textbook can be implemented into educational practice as a way of realizing the regional component in school geographical education.
